Additional information

AVRI is a consortium currently comprised of 2 universities (University of Alberta, University of Calgary), 3 provincial agencies (Agriculture and Food; Provincial Laboratories of Public Health; and Sustainable Resource Development) and the Centre for Coastal Health. As appropriate, the circle will continue to widen to include other provincial and national organizations.

Since the official launch on June 2006, AVRI has concentrated on internal organization and local partnerships through Northern and Southern Clusters centered at the Universities of Alberta and Calgary, respectively. The ultimate aim is to work towards provincial and western Canadian collaboration.

AVRI’s mission is to increase Alberta’s research/service capacity through scientific advocacy and collaboration, graduate training, and sharing of specialized knowledge and resources.
